DVD+-RW DL
ATi Mobility RADEON X600 w/256MB HyperMemory
802.11b/g
BT 1.2
XP Pro

it's HKD$7400 (+HKD$1200 for the RAM upgrade, was 1GB)

Once you see the screen you can't really not buy it...

Cassio Laughs Off Ed Colligan

Apparently Ed Colligan, CEO of Palm Inc., said in an interview that they've "learned and struggled for a few years here figuring out how to make a decent phone. PC guys are not going to just figure this out. They're not going to just walk in."

While I totally agree with the "struggled" part, but his words reminds me when the iPod was released. No one in the Digital Audio Player(DAP) industry treated Apple's entry to the market seriously enough. Now look at the DAP market. iPod's market share in the US is 87% according to a PC mag article. Since Palm's market share is already falling in the past few years, Ed's words are not reasurring at all. Stuff Apple makes continues to impress a lot of people, including me. an iPhone, if done correctly, would be very attractive.

Horrid Laughter

I was just listening to a podcast, which actually is a snippet of RTHK's Radio One's morning news program. This snippet is about Donald Tsang, HKSAR's CEO, meeting teenagers of Hong Kong, but BLODDY HELL, who the heck is that woman with that oh-so-scarry laughter?

Fun Fact : Palm & iPod?

Q : What's the relationship between an iPod and Palm?

A : Synchronization. The syncronization between iPod and iTunes was modelled on the software used to syncronization between a Palm and Palm Desktop - HotSync.

So...HotSync really is rather good (Compared to ActiveSync)(Well, better than the version that i've used. Old version, I admit. The one that came with an iPaq 36xx)

Lost my music

Good night!

I still I still I love you!
I'm waiting waiting forever
I still I still I love you!

One day

Morning

I lost I lost I lost you!
You're making making my music
I lost I lost I lost you!
No!

Good night!

Morning

I still I still I love you!
I'm waiting waiting forever
I still I still I love you!

I still I still I love you!
I'm waiting waiting forever
I still I still I love you!

What's your Emotional Quotient?

Your EQ is 107

91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.

Well...sounds right...

And you?

What's your Adventure Quotient?

To you, adventure without innovation is like going back to the dark ages. Humans have progressed and so has technology. Our calculations reveal that you are the Well-Equiptped Achiever.

You have a true enthisiast's appreciation for top-quality technology and equiptment. For you, it is not simply about getting the gear. It's the curiosity of how you use it to heighten your next experience. Your adventures demand the time to learn the intricacies of any new product or idea. Your wealth of knowledge is no secret. Others seek your expertise before deciding what to buy.
Seems quite right, considering it's from Land Rover a bunch of Ph.Ds.

So, what is your AQ?

Smart Phones Stink, PDA Phones Rule...

...says Tom's Hardware Guide

I can't agree more. Especially since a started using a Handspring Treo180. Now that I've switched to a pa1mOne Treo650, I'm ever more pleased with it. Yes it's as big as a brick but then there's much much more functions than your average phone. Not to mention a bigger screen as well. Yes, the camera's (quite) crap and it crashes, on average, 10 times a week, but I love it. Those are just some stuff that's worth sacrificing for such a brilliant phone. The keyboard is addictive, by the way. I sent much more text messages in a week that what I used to in a year after I switched to Treo180. Ooh...looks nice to put up a short user review here as well. 650's keyboard is, I must admit, not as nice as 180's keyboard. It feels more soft, while 180's feels sturdy and tough. Nice improvement to the screen (160x160 4-bit Grayscale to 320x320 16-bit Colour)

Treo700p has finally arrived, though initially only available on Verizon/Sprint in the States, GSM versions will soon come. Not very attractive to existing 650 users, especially when there's a rumor that there will be a firmware upgrade that turns the 650 into a 700p, more or less (function-wise). So, 650 prices will drop, making it even more attractive. I am quite interested in the new "Ultralight? Wireless Headset" though.

Hope it works better than the old "Treo? Wireless Headset". I have one, and it's quite crap. My old SonyEricsson HBH-35 is better. Unfortnately my mom took over that headset. Well, nothing I could do, really.

Eric Kwok / Eason Chan
Eric Kwok / Jerald

Personality Tests

Recently loads of personality tests appeared in a HK3Zone.

Oops, that sort of tells the truth but it's for girls only...

Leavers' Book

My leavers' book entry...
Cassio, is a special but rather hilarious name to be called. However, his name does not make his life any embarrassing; instead, remarkable. He always carries a grin on his face as if nothing can make him bend his brows; this complexion gives his friends a mature image and reliable feeling. Although I realize it is tough to be able to smile in front of despair and difficulties, it is he who influenced me with his optimism and taught me how to smile. He is unique and especially with his character, his strong character which eliminates foreign opinions. As a result, we stand no grounds to argue with him and always end up having to admit defeat. Apart from that, he is immensely well-tempered. Interestingly, this Cassio is not good at mental arithmetic at all unlike his famous brother Casio; but rather a close friend of IBM. I saw him once standing on his beloved IBM laptop and started to bounce, at first I thought he must be insane, but after that I asked him why, he said he was just confirming IBMs claims. (Does it sound even more insane?). Without a doubt, he pursues outstanding computing skills which solve problems for his friends. As far as I know, he loves photography. He once spent 3 hours on a piece of work just to seek the perfection. On the other hand, he is obsessed with yoghurts; I have never seen him having a meal without a large bowl of yoghurts in front of him for the past 6 months. Although it sounds a bit like a clich?, it is our pleasure to meet you!
Thank you Ivan!

How much does your blog worth?

Saw this link in David Strom's Web Informant. According to some calculations by Business Opportunities Weblog, David Strom's blog's worth $2,258.16. In contrast, Google is worth $80,904,791.94. How about CazzoBlogz, or Cassio's Photo Gallery? Well, $0 so far...

Treo Cufflinks

Just saw this in an Engadget post, and I thought I MUST post this here.

TREO CUFFLINKS!!!

London Paddington

A Wednesday morning in London Paddington station.
Waiting for a train to go to Bristol Temple Meads, i.e. University of Bristol.
Yes, you guessed it, Open Day.
I arrived one whole hour before the train leaves the station, so I wandered around and took some pictures.

Experiment 1 - Calligraphy

A friend was holding a calligraphy competition, and he wanted me to take a picture for the competition poster - which became my first experiment with lights.
I didn't realise until two days after the posters came out that i should have used a slightly smaller aperture, say, f/2.8 instead of the f/1.8 I used.
God I'm stupid.

2000th Photo

Finally...over 2000 photos have been take using the D70s! The 2000th photo is part of the 10-frame experiment, the second of the 10 frames, to be exact.

http://cassio.mygallery.biz/10-frame/DSC_2000

Experiment 3 - 10-Frame

Some time ago I read about a photographer going around hollywood asking celebrities to take pictures of themselves in a photobooth.
They are allowed to fire the shutte themselves, and do whatever they want in front of the lens.
10 frames for each celebrity, same settings for each frame (e.g. same light source for all celebrities),and they don't get to see the results until they've finished the 10 frames.
Now, someone can't get enough of me, and want to see more pictures of me (don't know about now...), so I thought, why not try this 10-frame idea?
I have a remote for my D70s, so i setup the camera, and after some trial and error, I ended up with the 10 frames. Here's one of them. Check out the rest in my album. A chance to see a face full of disasterous acne.
Also included : some trial shots
p.s. none of these are edited in photoshop, only raw-to-jpg conversion via Nikon Capture

http://cassio.mygallery.biz/10-frame

Experiment 2 - Candle

Another friend told me to take pictures of this candle.
Don't know why he want photos of it, but I take this as another experimental opportunity.
Results came out, well, sort of OK, I guess.

quite a while since i last came here

earlier from Google Reader i saw my bud's xanga saying...
well,very unfortunate, bud
i was looking forward to more photographic opportunities from you, don't you stop now!
by the way, what does "grap" mean?

which reminds me, i took some pictures of a candle yesterday for a friend (he just asked me to take pictures of a candle, so i did). nothing spectacular, but some of them are (i think) ok. I'll post some of the pictures here when i can login to my gallery. i experimented with different lighting conditions as well, though some came out absolutely different to what i expected.

i think i'd better send an email to bv to see if it's their fault or my fault i can't login.

or better, i'd check with the school's it dept. quite likely it's their fault. they seem to have blocked cookies. that may be the problem.

still haven't done much on the photography competition yet. damn.

still haven't heard from utp recently either. heard you're quite busy, how are you?

20060129

Haven't posted in my blog for quite a while now. (I seem to say this in front of every post)

So far I've retaken Computing 2506, Maths S2, and Economics Paper 2 and 3. I've also done M3 and FP1, both Maths modules. I think I'll have to retake them in June though the rest should be fine. I'll be doing Economics Paper 6 on Monday, which I definitely will be retaking it in June. (I barely know the stuff, damnit)

Haven't called home for quite a while, since I don't have a phone card. Finished the credits a week ago.

Found a way to get the idiotic Xanga RSS threads to display chinese in Google Reader. Idiotic way, but better than no chinese at all. you need a text editor (e.g. Notepad) and an internet browser (e.g. Firefox, though I only have Internet Explorer in my school computer). Basically, copy the supposidly-chinese text to the text editor, then save it as ANSI frmat, then open the text file with the browser, and select the right encoding (in this case, Big5).

At least it's better than the subscription emails, which has unbreakable, wrongly encoded chinese.

W sent me an email, saying thanks once more. Dude, what's wrong? You suddenly sound a bit weird. You don't, and never did, thank me that much - and that's what's friends are for, ain't it?

Anyway...Chinese new year now, Kung Hei Faat Choi everyone!

p.s. T, er, about the monitor? :x
p.p.s. Thank you cyt for linking her blog to me!

It's the last day today

I just realised that I DO have Economics Homework

I just realised that I DIDN'T write one extra word in the Computing Project Writeup since I last left IT2

I just realised that I only did one M3 past paper, when I'm going to do FOUR Maths Papers in the exam - C4, M3, S2, FP1

Shit

Holy Shit

Let's see how I can manage to squeeze as much marks as I could out of the Exam Papers using my last-minute boosted knowledge levels

Google Reader

Xanga

Google Reader

Why the hell is this in chinese? I can't bloody read it."
